I am in the market for a new sound card and not really sure whats the good card of today. I had an X-fi that crapped out, now using an old sound blaster gamers series in which the mic doesn't work with win7 64.

The Asus cards look interesting and have some decent reviews(Link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132010)), but seem pricey. Anyone using one, or have a better choice?

I really hate recommending Creative Labs as I think they are way overpriced and their drivers are extremly buggy and bloated.. but I have yet to use a sound card by anyone that delivers better sound quality.

Yeah Creative maybe way to go, but so many complaints about win7 drivers and its not just Creative, seems like most of them have been lacking win 7 support.

I'm running an X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro on Win7 64bit and have no problems whatsoever. Had this card for years running under 3 different OS's with no major issues. Creatives latest driver release(June) is specifically for Win 7 only.

I have been debating a new sound card for awhile now and have looked hard at the asus cards, I just havnt got my self to spend the money on one yet. They are pricey, but I have heard good things about their driver support and sound quality. Plus Asus is keeping me really happy right now, they are replacing my laptop right n0ow because of a fall. If you need a good headset also, the asus xonar xense comes with a Senhiser pc350, the same one I have and it is an incredible headset, but the $300 price is a little steep...

I am using the same card. I had a recent issue but it was easily corrected by uninstalling the driver and rebooting. Win 7 found and installed the correct driver automatically.

Yes Arstron that combo that Asus has is tempting, but looks like the guys have me sold on the X-Fi.
